This is another very nice chapter from an extremely fortunate person. This start is a decades long deal where I would eventually have gardens and pets and a place to call home, even a new family. Falling into a dream of an uncrowded island of nice people who are into mutuality verses individualism. Lofty stuff, and it is a tropical island and the people are very cool. Lots of poor people, so happier than rich folk in general. Most people don’t know where it is and sometimes I can hardly find it since it’s a dot in the vast pacific ocean. I just tell people it’s more than twice as far as Hawaii and just past the deepest part of the world, the Marianas trench, and before you hit Japan or China etc.
It’s not the rat race. The people are mostly Catholic and Christian and mostly Asian and Pacific Islanders. They are 70+% Americans as it’s a U.S. territory: CNMI Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Islands. Less than 200 miles north of Guam but smaller and a different territorial agreement than CNMI with the U.S.. It gets complicated and the history does too. I would be remiss to try to rattle it off and I don’t mean to minimize it. Suffice to say that island peoples around the world share a lot of what the people of this island of Saipan do. I should tell you once I am an islander for a couple years.
I havn’t been off a boat for too long yet and just glad the island is waiting.Categories
