ACTION! Lookin down the barrel, or just another Tuesday

Edge of a storm last week.

New band name: Typhoon alley cats.
I got my first two 5 gallon jugs of water today. We got some days warning of a storm brewing that’s heading straight at us. Or; just another Tuesday. Left the jugs in the car since I’m driving around looking for a place to rent and drop them off. Like to have more than that for storm backup. The big storm this year knocked out power and water island wide for weeks. Should probably put a couple jugs inside too at the hotel, but I can’t wait around for another storm. Last week there was a shelter in place order from a passing storm. This one coming in supposedly quickly and directly at the CNMI with strength seemingly variable though leaning towards typhoon strength upon arrival.

Everybody makes sure each other knows that a bad storm might come. No one on the mainland has said “what is that like to live with maybe something blows through your window or door in the next storm and you don’t have water or power for weeks?” I don’t know. Just cuz I lived on and off a boat floating offshore doesn’t meen I’ve hunkered down in a typhoon. My guide last time was like “ok, I’m gonna keep the water off the floor since it blows rain sideways into the house.” Wasn’t a big deal, though that Sinlaku WAS a big deal. The whole island turned from green to brown. It was category 4-5 direct hit, and it passed slowly, which made it much worse. So since then there was a half speed one and one that was less than that last week. And now it’s the barrel effect with everyone looking out. I think they call it “action” time.
