Audio/video Linux loaded up again and a new Orange practice amp and some fresh strings on the stratocaster.

The last time or two I ran avlinux were good. This time I told myself I don’t remember bricking a computer but this is the year I said I should fall in the water… Cause I never do and shouldn’t you do it once in awhile? I climb from boat to boat to dock etc all the time so there’s plenty of opportunity. I don’t think I’ve got a parking ticket for over a year either, so I’m due.

Anyway the bootable usb took a couple tries with rufus software. Then it was a couple tries installing: first next to windows for a dual boot, then just writing av Linux over windows, then tweaking the bios to boot anything other than it’s used to which apparently I should have done to begin with. And I turn it on and it’s my favorite operating system with a plethora of preloaded software I need.

My favorite open source audio video software cinelerra seems to have gotten a bit unstable and not so supported these recent years so I’m trying the supposed next best thing and we’ll see how far I can push that.

Ran the suggested updates with synaptic package manager which was maybe too simple, as I was going hey where’s cinelerra. I’m used to calling up like the multiverse and more closer to barbed wired licensing areas for software. So I thought I was going to get bogged down installing cinerella and various supporting software I’m used to. That’s when I found out I better go with what’s preloaded because of as I mentioned: cinerella seems to be going out of style. Cinelerra was amazing though. I used to make dvds with a menu that would play on anything but I guess with the way we use memory and streaming and the cloud, dvds don’t matter anymore. The thing (cinelerra) composited and did slow mo and built in audio editing and pan/zoom multiple cameras etc etc. Up there with pro stuff but I’ve talked to some pros who play a different ball park that in some cases is considerably different.

Everything keeps getting easier. I think I ran like one command in a terminal and I don’t think it really had to be run.
